When it was announced months ago that there was going to be a sequel for the popular cartoon Avatar: The Legend of Aang, my reaction was “Meh, I don’t care. It’s not like I’m an avid fan of the show.” Back then, I only watched the show on TV because there would be nothing else to watch. However, when my brother downloaded the entire three seasons and forced me to watch everything with him, I found myself loving Aang for the cutie patootie that he is.
Not that I have a crush on him or anything, because that’s just weird. (Zuko, on the other hand… ;D)
Anyway, I’m a big fan of the TV series. The movie, not so much. The sequel? I’m not quite sure yet. From what I’ve gathered from the one minute and nineteen second preview below, it’s set waaay into the future. I mean, look at the skyscrapers.
Specifically, it’s set 70 years in the future and it revolves around Korra, the new Avatar. She is of no relation to Aang, but her Airbending teacher Tenzin happens to be Aang’s son. His wife? Katara, of course!
I’m excited for the sequel, but I really am trying hard to not get my hopes up because in my heart of hearts, I don’t think anything can compare to Avatar: The Legend of Aang. The movie was a real disappointment, and I know this sequel is going to be really different as well. I suppose only time will tell whether or not it would be as wonderful as its predecessor.
